FESTIVE FERVOUR: EP 3 – 50% Chit-chat, 50% Camaraderie

Hey everyone,
This is Rae. Today was Shashthi- the sixth day of the festival and the day when the goddess is worshipped with pomp and gusto. As usual, the entire complex was decorated beautifully. I went downstairs in the evening and had a great time catching up with my friends- joking about hilarious incidents and talking excitedly about various books and movies we watched. I really enjoyed their company and we all stayed downstairs, talking for almost two hours. From afar, we could hear the dhakis playing the dhaks which are drum -like instruments, smell the incense and hear the mantras being chanted by the priest. All these smells, sounds and sights had me reminiscing all the past Durga pujas and I could finally feel that Puja was actually here. I went home at around 9:30 pm and was greeted by pizza! It was a pleasant surprise. The pizza was even more delicious because of the chicken nuggets that accompanied it. What can I say- Nuggets&Pizza=the perfect combo :). I also had a talk with my best friend who had a dance programme today. She sent me the pictures and videos and I have to admit, she really did well! I am really proud and happy for her. After that, I mainly relaxed and watched some videos before writing down the events of the day to put in my blog. Today was therefore a really exciting and enjoyable day. I finally got to meet my friends after almost six months, all the while appreciating the rich culture of Bengal and all the amazing festivities it has to offer. Anyway, that was my day today. Let me know what kind of day you all had today. I hope everyone is doing great and is leading a happy life because puja is a time about being happy and although now, we cannot physically meet like we used to, we can improvise and figure out a way to communicate with each other, enjoy the puja and at the same time, also remain safe and covid – free. Stay safe and happy! More later…
Ciao,
~RAE
