BOOKWORM: EP 1- IMAGINATION- BIRTH OF A THOUSAND CREATIONS

Review: 'The Hate U Give' surprises audience with twist ending – Farmers' Harvest

Hey guys,

This is Rae. Today, I really wanted to try a book review of a book which has such a strong and relevant message. It’s called “The Hate you Give” by Angie Thomas. It’s about a sixteen year old Starr Carter who lives in two worlds- her posh prep school in the suburbs and her run-down-the-mill neighbourhood. It seems a pretty straightforward life, doesn’t it? Wait for it. One day, when she was coming home from a party with her best friend, Khalil, a police officer thinks he is a criminal and she witnessed Khalil being shot and die right in front of her. The shooting became a national issue. People are conflicted. Some think Khalil deserved to die because he was a drug-dealer and a bad influence while the others start protesting for Khalil’s justice. But what none of them know is the truth. What exactly happened that night? The answers all lie with one person- the only witness of the murder- Starr herself. However, what Starr knows can put her family and all the people she loves in danger. Is she really prepared to risk everything she cares about to bring Khalil’s death to light? Read this gripping and expressive book to find out. The book’s message is crystal clear and brings to light so many issues which have long been overlooked and ignored by society. It was inspired by the Black Lives Matter Movement and is such a powerful YA novel. I highly recommend this book. I really like the plot and the moral of it. I’m pretty sure all of us sympathise with Starr and all the hardships she has faced and we smile and laugh when we see the beautiful bond Starr shares with her brothers, parents and her relatives. She may not have the perfect life she hoped for but at least she was together with her family who supported her every step of the journey. So, i hope you all feel eager to read this novel by reading this book review. I will surely post more reviews and recommendations of books so stay tuned! Stay safe and happy! More later…\
